In our ongoing effort to push the boundaries of the World Series of Birding, we're inviting our family members, friends, colleagues and clients to join us and support the Wandering Tattlers—New Jersey Audubonís Board team.Your support in this yearís World Series of Birding will help protect birds and the natural habitats they need to survive.
As you may know the World Series of Birding is one of New Jersey Audubonís signature events, whose dual purpose is to draw international attention to our stateís rich and diverse birdlife and generate income in support of our mission. We are fortunate, indeed, to have such a bird-rich arena to showcase for the event but with fortune goes obligation, the ongoing need to protect our natural dowry, an obligation that lies at the heart of our organizationís mission.
A few years ago, a movie called The Big Year starring comedy giants Steve Martin, Owen Wilson, and Jack Black put birdingís biggest competition in the spotlight, portraying the scramble to find as many species as possible in a single calendar year. But what about the rest of us?
Most of us donít have the time to take on a Big Year. The World Series of Birding takes our adventure on the road, bringing together our Board as a team and counting as many species as we can in 24 hours. This is our Big Day!
With your help, we hope to secure pledges upon the total number of species found by our team on May 14.This is your opportunity to become a stakeholder in the natural dowry of this ecologically diverse state and the environment that supports our wildlife. We anticipate finding about 120 species in our day long romp that will begin at dawn and conclude about dusk.
