Have you ever wanted to participate in the World Series of Birding, but just are not up to a full dawn to dusk, or midnight to midnight of birding? Join us for a fun-filled Big Stay at the Plainsboro Preserve. Birders of all skill levels and experience are welcome.
We will set up our Big Stay within a 16' diameter circle on the back deck of the Center. You will have a view of the feeders, the beautiful lake, the wide lawn, and woods on both sides. In recent weeks, we have seen well over 40 species at the Preserve, including Osprey and Eagles. We will set up camp for the day with a pop up canopy, table and chairs, a field guide library, and loaner binoculars. We will also provide snacks and lunch, and either cold or hot drinks, depending on the weather.
Our Big Stay will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please plan to stay for the whole time, since we need to have 95% of our team see or hear each bird to count it. We need your eyes and ears to reach our goal of identifying 45 species of birds that day.
There is no registration fee, but participants are expected to pledge at least one dollar per species, with all proceeds benefiting Plainsboro Preserve's mission of education and conservation.
If you're interested in joining us, please call the Center at 609-897-9400 for more information and to reserve your spot on the team.
If you can't join us on the Big Day, please consider supporting Plainsboro Preserve by clicking on the Donate or Pledge buttons to the left.
